Personality Sketch POSITIVE TRAITS ❚ Optimistic. » Even in a worst case scenario Yuri find the bright side of things- and in doing so, will try to cheer up her friends or even enemies if they’re in the scenario with her. ❚ Flexible. » Due to her exploring and athletic history Yuri’s small body can easily fit through many small spots that most couldn’t even imagine going through. Other then that, Yuri has a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to physical fighting- meaning, she can easily twist her body or jump out of the way of an attack for the most part. ❚ Imaginative. » Yuri is the queen of unorthodox ideas. In the most serious moments when everyone is trying to come up with a plan Yuri is always the one to give the most ridiculous and complicated idea. Only one (or possibly twice) has someone agreed with her plan and went along with it. ❚ Caring. » Yuri was always one to find the value of any life, even to those who has lived a life a crime and death; she’s one to value any life that comes her way and protest to save it. Having not killed anything in her life- even when she picks a flower she first prays that its soul go to somewhere nice –Yuri has maintained to keep her innocence despite being surrounded by war. ❚ Protective. » A rather contradicting trait of hers. When Yuri grows a strong attachment to someone or something she’ll automatically put herself in the position of protecting it from harm. Her needs to protect will instantly contradict her caring persona. If someone means harm to those she cares about and is put in a corner of watching him/her get hurt or killing the attacker Yuri will choice to kill. In that circumstance Yuri won’t hold back on them and do anything in her power to kill them in order to protect. If she ever did actually kill someone she’d cry and sulk for days. NEGATIVE TRAITS ❚ Cry Baby. » Yuri is a short fuse when it comes to tears- though a small insult here and there won’t do much but make Yuri a bit annoyed. If things go farther then or if she gets attacked/hit outside of a battle she’ll begin to cry and won’t stop until given an apology and hug. ❚ Talkative. » Yuri can’t shut up no matter what. Trying to spy on someone? She’ll blow your cover. Trying to take a nap? Well good luck; I think you get my point. ❚ Small Body Structure. » Because one: she’s just a child, and two: because her body is just naturally petite Yuri’s physical endurance and strength is pretty low. This can and has led to her downfall of some of her fights. ❚ Gullible. » The choice of hiding their daughter from the world may have been in good intentions but all it did to Yuri was make her gullible and unknowing of the world around her. All through out her life Yuri only interacted with good natured people who shared the same respect she had towards things, and because of that Yuri believes everyone has a heart of gold. Tell her that you have candy for her, she’d believe you. Tell her you were her guardian angel, she’d probably go on a spazed happy fit. ❚ Naive. » Another trait given to Yuri by the choice her parents made when she was young. Unlike some, she doesn’t have the knowledge of the world outside a small portion of the Northern Water Tribe. Because of that she has yet to experience a lot of what life has in store. (-) Getting lost. (-) Mean people. (-) Strict rules. HISTORY ❚ From the start Yuri was destined to be a fine Bender. Star aligned and running through the little girls veins was the blood of her ancestors; in some marvelous chance of luck Yuri’s parents both contained the family tree of past Water Bending Avatars. Needless to say, Yuri was called a prodigy even before being born into the world. Though she wasn’t named the Avatar in her lifetime Yuri still lived up to her prodigy rumor. Training by herself or with the elders of her village Yuri quickly learned the basics of Water Bending at the age of 8 and steadily progressed her skill as the years went on. ❚ By the age of 11 Yuri had learned all the elders could teach her and now was playing around with her skills- perfecting them more and adding her own touch to them as well. Her parents, proud of their child, found her Bending skills both amazing and worrisome. The war with the Fire Nation was escalating and more and more people had been called out to help the resistance and with her excellent skill Yuri’s parents could just imagine their little daughter being called out as well. So, in an attempt to keep their daughter from harm Yuri was tucked away from the world and kept in a small snow home of the Northern Water Tribe. From then on the memory of Yuri faded away in the minds of everyone who knew her. ❚ Life in the Northern Water Tribe was a secluded one- still having the ability to leave the home Yuri was still forced to hide her face. A few years past and Yuri was now close to turning 16. Nothing had changed for the young girl, more techniques in Water Bending were learned but that was where it ended until one day that changed everything for Yuri. One day the Avatar himself appeared in the Northern Water Tribe, close to where Yuri was being housed. New of his arrival spread like wild fire and soon even the social hermit Yuri found out about it. Even though the elders that watched over the young prodigy told her to stay indoors Yuri wasn’t about to miss such an opportunity to see the Avatar for herself. ❚ As the last remaining residents hurried to the location Yuri quietly and quickly ran out of her home and followed the fleeting foot prints in the snow. Needless to say Yuri was last to arrive and already there was a thick crowd of people. Being of small stature the girl was unable to see and that wouldn’t do at all. After a few seconds of thinking Yuri went off the beaten path and proceeded to climb up a medium sized hill of ice and snow. Finally making her way to the top Yuri peered down, a perfect view of the Avatar. He was alone and in her eyes, seemingly uncaring to the crowd her persistence had caused. Gasping in aware Yuri began to inch forward hoping to get a better look but unaware of how far she was off the edge, she slipped and slide down in front of the crowd and the Avatar himself. ❚ Sitting their in the snow looking up at the Avatar dumbfounded probably wasn’t the best first impression but Yuri didn’t care. Standing up Yuri took a deep breath and then began to express her case; the girl told about her abilities as an excellent Water Bender, how her parents hid her from the world she so desperately wanted to be apart of, and how she’d gladly follow any order he gave her if he’d let her come with him. Silence fell over everyone around but Yuri didn’t take her gaze away from the Avatar- he seemed to be her only chance into the world and if he said no she’d be trapped just like a caged bird. With everything said the Avatar looked down at the young girl and slowly nodded his head before facing her to leave, “Come if you like.” ❚ Till this day Yuri still remembers that fateful day clearly. The girl holds deep respect for the Avatar, so much that she’d gladly give her life to help his cause. Still being a child at heart Yuri has taken up calling the Avatar ‘her big brother’ due to him being the only male authority figure (other then her father) in her life. Special Abilities (Benders) BENDING ELEMENT : Water. SCOPE OF BENDING : Ice attacks are Yuri’s specialty, other the Water Manipulation. » Water Manipulation One of the first Bending techniques Yuri perfected, her Water Manipulation ranges from long whips to shields but being a performer at heart Yuri takes things to a more creative level. Over her life she has been able to shape the water she bends into a multitude of shapes, more commonly animals. Her most used: Rabbits, Sharks, Cats, and Jellyfish. Though these shapes aren’t used for fighting Yuri finds them rather amusing and a fun performance to show people. » Ice Claws Yuri’s favorite and most used technique in battle, using and perfecting this had been her goal ever since childhood. Yuri can easily manipulate water and freeze it at will without anyone noticing; Yuri can stretch the Ice Claws one to two inches off the tips of her fingers and also launch then off and towards her opponent if needed. » Water Shields/Walls Another common technique in Yuri’s and most other Water Benders fighting styles. Over the years Yuri has gone from being able to only shield herself from attacks to being able to create a whole prism of water in 3-foot radius from where she stands. Of course creating a prism of water as a shield takes extreme focus and control and because of that Yuri is still trying to perfect the prism technique but all her simpler forms of defense are well controlled. Whenever Yuri does try to practice her prism technique it fails on her and crashes onto her- however she can hold it for a minute at the most. WEAPONS : None. PERSONAL ITEMS : » A Stuffed Rabbit Backpack Yuri’s means of transporting things- surprisingly the small backpack is bigger on the inside then how it looks. The Rabbit itself is a shade of light blue with dark navy stitching. Yuri has gone so far to name it “Honey” and will even have full conversations with it. » Two Canteens of Water Yuri’s means of portable water bending.
