He had gotten a good number of buckets of water. He always did this when practicing his Waterbending. The first thing that he always did was practice his basics. He stood straight and took deep calming breaths, then started slowly moving his hands up, focusing on the water, and lifting it out of all four buckets that he had put around him. It was slow to start with, only a little bit from each coming out of the buckets, but the longer he calmed himself, more of the buckets became empty before he had all of them empty around him.
Shiro's first goal when practicing every day was to just see how long it took him to empty the four buckets he placed around, and how long he could hold the water without moving it from this position. As he opened his eyes, he saw a couple of the bulbs of water quivering slightly, and slowly moved his hands towards them to steady them. He always started the counting when the bulbs of water were calm. "One... Two... Three... Four..." he counted, keeping his voice down so he could hear it and keep himself calm.
After a full minute, he lowered all the water back into the buckets, not spilling anything. His basics were just begining, and he was off to a good start. His sister had always told him that if he could hold the water out of the buckets for a minute each day, that he would be able to hold it whenever he needed to, and could start getting better at more practical techniques. Today had been the twelveth straight day that he had held the water out of the buckets for a minute, so he figured he could move on a little more again to day.
Shiro moved all but two buckets away from him and took a different stance, then lifted the water in the buckets out and held it in front of him. He started pushing and pulling the water in the air then combined the two bulbs of water into one bigger one and seperated it again, doing it several times before putting it back in the buckets. After it was back in the buckets, he walked over to a few rocks that were on the ground near him and found the slightly bigger ones. He moved them in front of him into four spots and drew little circles on them with one of his kunai knives, then stepped back behind the two buckets of water. He once again lifted the water out of the buckets, though this time one bucket only. Shiro moved the water in front of him and stream-lined it into as long a straight line as he could, then took another calming breath and slowly breathed out into the water, focusing on cooling the water and making a spear of ice. As the water froze, he quickly jolted his fingertips out and shot his eyes open, causing the tips of the water to sharpen just long enough to be frozen.
As Shiro marveled in his work, he spun it around above him, then tossed it at one of the ash rocks he set up as targets. It hit the rock dead on, and made a loud splashing sound. This was what Shiro had feared would happen, and why he continued to practice every day. He hadn't gotten complete control over his ice making yet, and anything and everything he made out of it teneded to turn back to water after just a few seconds. He collected what water was left from in front of the rock and pulled out a shuriken. He focused the water around it and thought of sharp, thin blades as he made the water into the shap of the blades on the Shuriken, then threw his hand forward, causing the water and the blade to fly towards the rocks. Before hitting, he hardened the water into ice, but at the speed it was going, only one of the four tips actually hardened into a blade, which turned back into water upon impact.
Sighing, Shiro gathered up the water from the other bucket and focuced it. He would give up on the ice weapons for now, and focus on keeping things frozen for a longer time so he could use the ice shield to protect himself from projectile weapons. Shiro moved his hands wildly in front of him, causing the water to go all over the place in front of him, then split it into two smaller bulbs of water. Then he moved the water around him and clenched his fists, causing it to start hardening at a slightly faster pace than the water he had frozen before, making a dome like shape of ice around him. He focused on it staying icy for a good minute, then started tapping on it. It was weak, but it was ice still. He melted it back down into water and started making smaller shields of ice in single spots which were much more durable than the dome had been.
As he practiced, there were a couple things he was missing. The first were the oncoming clouds, signafying a storm approching. The last, was a girl over one of the hills. Still not aware of his presenes either, but fast aproching him.

Though the young teen wasn’t skilled in travel Yuri had miraculously found her way close to the Si Wong Desert. Her reason behind it was a simple one though completing it would be difficult; Yuri was on her way to Wan Shi Tong’s Library. A legend known quite far around the world- there were, of course, some problems with the girls plans. In between Yuri and the Library was a large desert known for being treacherous and hard to travel though, even to the most skilled.
There lied Yuri’s first problem. As she walked through the lush green area the girl couldn’t help but laugh at its odd place. Who would have thought a god-forsaken desert of death lay beyond it. Softly Yuri continued to walk on the moist dirt and patches of grass, her footsteps and low crunching of twigs was the only thing she could hear. “Hmm…” Yuri murmured. She had to figure out a way to get to the library, she wasn’t going to waste a trip all the way out here for nothing.
“I don’t think I’d be able to travel through it…” Yuri began, sulking at the realization of her possibly having to give up, “There isn’t any water out there either so if I were to get attacked I’d have to use the water in the canteens.” Being faced with a difficult decision Yuri began to rub her arm, she wasn’t used to things such as this. With the secluded life style she had only a year or so ago got out of Yuri still kept the naïve persona that evolved from it. Deeply in thought Yuri continued to walk straight through the opening, subconsciously ignoring the sound of running water.
“Agh!” Yuri squealed. Her left foot sank to the bottom of the small stream, the water sending a shiver through her leg and up to her brain. ‘Cold, cold, cold.’ Yuri thought as she pulled her foot out of the cold water placed it on a stray rock. Sighing softly she watched as the water dripped from her shoe and stockings. “They were new too...” Yuri muttered as she hovered her right hand over her leg and closing her eyes. ‘I guess Water Bending is good for other things too~’ Yuri thought as drop by drop the water that had soaked her leg just moments ago formed a swaying bubble below her hand.
Yuri motioned her hand towards the stream and with it went the water, stretching itself into a thick line until all of its body submerged back into where it came from. “Hehe all done~!” Yuri exclaimed happily. The teen twisted her body carefully on the rock she had planted her feet upon and stepped to the other side of the stream. Her attention now focused to what was ahead of her Yuri blinked- a few feet away was another Water Bender such as herself practicing with buckets of water. A wide smile spread across her face, ‘Aghha! I’m not alone!’ Yuri thought as she rushed over to where the boy stood. Maybe, just maybe, he’d help her with her journey. But even if he declined her offer she’d still be happy with small talk or something.

For about a second, he blinked and saw that it was a younger girl, a harmless child. Releasing the water, he sighed a little.
"Sorry about that, you startled me, when I was training, so I guess I thought you were an enemy. Are you alright?" he asked, bending the water back into the buckets and holding out his hand. "The name's Shiro, and you are?"
Shiro was a good guy, but he wasn't about to let his guard down while training, especially when he was a wanted man from the Fire Nation, for his deeds against the Firelord after all.
He wasn't really sure what to do about this girl, but he knew enough not to attack her and actually try and hurt her. She was a little girl after all, and he didn't intend to hurt anyone that wasn't from the fire nation, wasn't the Avatar, or wasn't a Bounty Hunter. He figured she was too young to be a Bounty Hunter, and her clothing and attitude didn't fit that of someone sent by the Fire Nation. Couple those facts with that of the Avatar being a man that he had seen a few years ago, Shiro could guess she was safe to trust.

In a swift moment the boys Water Bending was directed towards Yuri, sending a large spear point shooting for her. A light gasp escaped her mouth before instinctively moving her hands forward. This act of coverage may have seemed nothing more then instinct to anyone but Yuri wasn’t aiming towards that. As her hands raised so did the water from the near by stream, and, the higher her hands went the faster the water rushed in front of the female Water Bender. In seconds a circular wall of water formed in front of Yuri- protecting her like a shield at the ready.
Why did the boy attack her? Maybe she shouldn’t have come up to him like she had, or even at all. But her thoughts went when the boys attack dispersed and returned back; with that Yuri found no need for her shield and flicked her wrist back, retreating the water back into the stream. Yuri looked up at the boy, seeing his features and listening to his apology. He was taller then she was- then of course most people were –and from how he worded his apology and extended his hand to her he couldn’t be bad person. Yuri didn’t have any enemies; she hadn’t been apart of the word long enough to make them.
“Oh, um…” Yuri muttered, softly clearing her throat, “My name’s Yuri Katsuragi and I’m alright. I’m sorry I startled you like that.” Yuri said. Glancing down at his extended hand Yuri’s expression turned to a puzzled look. What was she supposed to do? Shake it? Not wanting to seem rude Yuri quickly took the boys hand but as fast as she took it she let it go, doubting herself a bit. ‘I have bad people skills…’ Yuri thought with an inner sigh of grief. Silence fell upon the surroundings and Yuri bit down on her lower lip, “S-sooo, you’re a Water Bender I see~” Yuri said in an enthusiastic tone, smiling happily up at the boy who, after introductions, addressed himself as Shiro. As soon as the obvious statement left her mouth and lingered in the air Yuri’s inner self slumped its shoulder. ‘What a dumb thing to state. Of course he’s a Water Bender!’ Yuri thought.

"She's a Waterbender too? Strange, I haven't seen any others outside of the swamp or the tribes to the north an south," he thought to himself, shaking her hand for the brief moment that she held it. He was surprised to see another waterbender, let alone a young one that could already do such powerful techniques. After a few moments of silence, when she stated that he was a waterbender, he smiled softly and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm a waterbender, just like you, what are you doing out here anyway? Shouldn't you be in the north, or the south, or even a swamp for that matter?" he asked finding her being alone out here just as strange as her being a waterbender. "Shouldn't you also have someone you're traveling with?" he added, looking around them and not seeing anyone.
They were pretty close to a desert, and water was scarce at best, in fact, Shiro was lucky to even find this stream he was at now, let alone any large bodies of water.

Instinctively Yuri positioned her foot upwards and to slowly rub the tip of her shoe into the moist ground. It wasn’t her choice to travel alone, she gladly would have accepted anyone’s offer to tag along- that is, if there had been any offers. “W-well…” Yuri began, still sulking, “I actually only know one person outside of my tribe in the north and he’s a rather busy person.” Yuri stated. Her social life was low if not nonexistent; the only ties she had made in the world were that of the Avatar and even then he probably saw her as just another person in the world. Though, who would really blame him for seeing her like that?
“I’m trying to travel to Wan Shi Tong’s library to see if I can learn anything from the scrolls there.” Yuri said, quickly changing the subject. The thought of her life in the real world was bring her down and she needed to get out of that mood if she was going to continue on with life. “The only problem I’m having is the whole desert part. I’m not all that good with travel…” Yuri continued with a soft sigh, “And I don’t even want to think of what will happen if I get attacked out there and run out of water to bend.” Yuri raised her right hand and brought it up to the back of her head, rubbing it slightly as a nervous smile formed on her face. Her circumstance wasn’t a laughing matter it was quite a serious one. She could get attacked and die, or get lost and die, or plenty other things that, needless to say, ended in death.
Turning the small talk to the boy Yuri placed both her hands behind her back, interlacing her fingers together. “What brings you out here Shiro~?” Yuri asked, her voice changing dramatically to a happy-go-luck tone. “Are you just training out here or are you going somewhere like I am~?” Yuri began, speaking rather fast, “Are you traveling alone?” Tilting her head a bit Yuri balanced her weight on the back of her heels and slowly rocked her petite body back and forth. ‘I hope all those questions aren’t coming off rude, we only just met and here I am asking him all these questions.’ Yuri thought.

He hadn't ever heard of it, though it seemed like it was talked about quite often where she was from.
"Waterbending scrolls? So, there's an oasis out in the desert that's called a library?" he asked, rather confused, walking over to the his tent and pulling out a couple of water skins that were rather large. He used his waterbending to pull all the water out of the buckets and filled the skins. He had always found them to be a little like weights that he could use as weapons as well.
He looked at the girl, Yuri again, and noticed that she wasn't wearing water skins. "Yuri, I was wondering, why aren't you wearing any water skins? You're a waterbender, aren't you? All the waterbenders I've seen that are going places that have little or no water have at least one, and they come in any size. It would really help you out in a place like a desert," he said, holding up one of the skins he used.
He was right, it was a staple for waterbenders that traveled the Earth Kingdom, and she didn't seem to have any. [color=0080FF"Here, if you don't have one, then fill this up with water from the stream and put it on, it's smaller, so it can't hold as much, but it'll help out in a pinch," |

Watching as the boy turned to his tent and proceeded to rummage through his things. Yuri watched as Shiro bent the water from the buckets into sack like objects. Tilting her head Yuri kept her gaze on the item- she had seen them a lot back when she lived in her northern tribe. “What were they called again…?” Yuri thought out loud. The name of it staying on the tip of her tongue- just out of the girls reach but as seconds passed by the name became a bit clearer. Yuri’s attention was snapped back as the boy, Shiro, began to ask why she wasn’t wearing a Waterskin. “WaterSkin, that’s what those things are called!” Yuri suddenly shouted loudly, grinning happily at her recitation.
“Well when I was leaving home I was sort of in a rush…” Yuri began as she recalled the day she left home by the help of the Avatar himself, “So I didn’t even get a chance to grab spare clothing let alone a Waterskin. I had to buy everything from shops after leaving the tribe.” Yuri looked over at Shiro then blinked as she watched the boy toss a smaller Waterskin in her direction- a clear indicator of her needing to catch it. A small yelp shot out of her pink lips as she quickly opened her arms and caught the Waterskin as it descended. The Water Benders blue eyes gazed over the Waterskins material and overall structure. “Are you sure?” Yuri asked instinctively as she took her attention from the gift and to its giver. “I mean do you have enough? Is there some way to repay you for this?” she continued to ask.
The gesture was a nice one but Yuri felt a bit bad to just receive a gift like this from a stranger; currently there had to be something Shiro wanted in return. Yuri thought for a moment, clinging onto the Waterskin as she did. ‘Maybe…’ Yuri began to think before finishing her thought out loud. “Do you want to fight with me in return for the Waterskin? Or maybe you can come along with me to the Library~!” Yuri said, “Or possibly both~ I may look small but I can fight!”

Did she just suggest to fight him over a water skin that he was simply giving to her? "Well, I do like a fight, but I don't think that would help much, I mean, you're not used to the water skins yet, and I have more than one, so it wouldn't be too fair. Besides, I wouldn't want to use the spring water, it wouldn't be fair for either of us," he said, sitting down on a rock and watching the water for a few moments. "As for this whole library thing, what's so special about it? I mean, it doesn't seem like anyone would willingly go to a library unless it was special," he added, wondering what this library was about.
Shiro had never heard of this library, and what's more, he had never heard of a library that had waterbending scrolls either. There were too many fire nation members that would kill for that information, and even more bounty hunters that would actually KILL for that information. Seeing as the girl was dead set on a fight, he thought for a few seconds, then smirked. "Okay, how's this sound, we'll spar, to help you get used to the weight of the water skin, and to help me finish my daily training, if you'll tell me what you know about this library when we're done, deal?" he asked, standing up and bending some water out of his water skins to show that he was more than ready.
Shiro didn't know this girl, but he could tell she wasn't going to try and take him in or anything, and that she most likely didn't have any weapons on her. To keep himself from accidentally hurting her by taking things too seriously, he wouldn't use his sword to fight her. He wasn't out for blood after all, it was simply a sparing match after all.

Well, it didn’t matter much now. Yuri watched Shiro as he bent the water from his own Waterskins. “I’m fine with that~” Yuri exclaimed as she quickly placed her gift Waterskins around her small frame and copied the boys actions. Soon the water from the skin rushed out of the opening, swirling around the girls left arm in a small controlled tornado. Seconds passed and the water shot out of her the small tornado in a quick, blink of the eye movement. The sudden spikes morphed themselves into a common technique Yuri knew Shiro had seen before: A Water Whip.
Though Yuri used the simple technique as both a show and an attack. Unlike a normal Water Benders beginning moves of a single attack Yuri wanted to show her potential right off the bat. Four spikes shot out and morphed into various whips, swinging themselves around until each found their own destination on Shiro. One went left, one bolted upwards, another went right, and the last swept down. Yuri watched on, waiting to see what Shiro would do. “Please don’t hold back.” Yuri began, “It’s not as fun if you do~” she continued with a grin.
