Her father worked for the county jail. Coming face to face with criminals or questionable people had become the norm with her whether it was locking them up or helping hand out breakfast. Having made connections through her dad and listening to people’s stories of loss and violence, a heartfelt urge to bring these people justice—or rather a revenge after her sister had been heinously murdered. Her business of tracking others down and on their knees started when she solved the mystery of who had come to bail a friend out of jail with the use of force when she was able to identify a boot print by the kind of sound it made while the suspect was walking and link it to a man with a limp. At 17 after intense self defense and Parkour training at an Academy, she was able to master people as well as the city they lived in. Her business became successful with a mixture of recovery or tracking services including, hunting criminals, valuable items, missing victims, politics, or fugitives. Her gender bender qualities come from childhood from lack of female role models and growing up in a world and industry run by men. In order to help her dad, she often had to pass as a boy. In the crowded city of Omashu it makes things a lot more accessible as well and gives a hell of an advantage over an opponent. As much as Ren doesn’t appear to be female or wants to be—she still is one. Criminals are burly people, so this is where Judo steps in. The principles of Judo allow Ren to use the opponents weight and force against them. Plus, when outsized or outmuscled in combat using her pure force of speed can bring down her victim with tackles, grips, pins, locks as well as short powerful punches and kicks.
