It had been early in the morning by the time that Eisada had made it out of Ba Sing Se. He had bid his friends a sorrow-filled goodbye and watched them leave in their own directions and was left alone to walk the path of Serpent’s Pass. His eyes looked forward at the long path that rose ahead of him, and then at the waters that formed a lake on either side… It was so large. Eisada gulped- “It can’t be that bad… it’s just like a big ol’ bridge. Right?” He asked, as if to the air. But he was actually talking to his pet snake that was hidden in his backpack.
Eisada stood there, a young man that had as much knowledge of the world as a ten year old boy- and that wasn’t a good thing at all. He fiddled with his long, white hair, twirling it in his fingers and resisting to chew and bite at it. He wore simple cotton clothing of brown- pants and a long sleeve shirt. And over that was a intricate cyan robe that covered his hands a bit and was tied around his waist with an orange obi. He had a strange fashion sense, but he wasn’t worried about that.
He stared at his feet, which were bare save for a few bandages for comfort. He wasn’t much the shoe type. Eisada sighed, blue eyes looking up as he stared at the pass. He might as well start the trek now and try to get to the other side before night. Eisada shifted the old bag over his shoulder and began walking. The entire thing was like a death trap- a narrow mountain of rock with a path flattened out on top and filled with water on either side. Eisada started his trek up the path, holding the bag’s strap tightly. He wasn’t afraid of the rocks- he was afraid of falling off one of the cliffs and drowning, for he couldn’t swim…
That fact alone is why Eisada chose this path- for he wasn’t going to risk a boat ride across Full Moon Bay. He was more scared of the water than this so called serpent that guarded the path. Yes, he heard the rumors, but he somehow felt it was something else. “I… I w-wonder if it’s really a serpent… I mean… if it is, it c-can’t be that bad…” Eisada stuttered, walking rather slowly as he eyed the water that got further and further down as he walked up the beaten path. He closed his eyes for a moment and sighed, telling himself to get over it in his head.
“I’m sure it’s just a rumor- and besides… people cross this thing a lot, it can’t be that dangerous.” Eisada said to himself. Trying to gather the courage to keep going. But walking uphill wasn’t all that enjoyable on such a scary path. “Once we get to the other side, we’ll be just fine and perfectly whole and dry. We can avoid the water this way for sure.” Eisada gave a nervous laugh, but found himself starting to chicken out as he gazed at the water again. Bellow were many cliffs and rather sharp rocks- and water. "Keep walking… J-just keep walking…” he muttered to himself, tearing his eyes away from the water.
When he finally came atop the first hill, he stared out at the path. It was much longer than it seemed, and uneven. This was going to be a long walk. “Heh, woulda been nice of popo gave us a ride over. I suppose I shouldn’t have been all nice and told them I’d be fine… Oh, what was I thinking?” Eisada whispered. He stood there for a while, staring out at the distance before him. It was either this or cross the water on boat. Eisada decided he’d choose this for the better of not drowning.

Why was she here when she could have easily taken a boat across the lake. Fei had heard stories of the pass and although she was the type of person who tries to avoid any time of conflict, she just felt a sudden urge to travel along the pass.
Swaying at her hip was a large water skin that was filled to the brim and ready to use at any moment if the need arose. She knew that there was plenty of water around, she was crossing a lake of course. But there is always that chance that something might go wrong.
She slowly made her way toward the entrance to the pass, she then came to an abrupt stop and looked up at the sign. She parted her lips and read out loud the two words that were written across the worn down sign that marks the entrance to the pass.”Abandon Hope.” Her voice was soft and the words were spoken slowly. It seemed that this was a truly horrifying place for the locals to build such a sign. She thought they could have least written a more clear warning for those who are not familiar with the stories. Fei walked up to the sign and laid the palm of her hand on it. The surface was ruff, worn, and small pieces were missing. There were also names carved into the wood. She guessed that these were those people who lost their lives here. Fei bowed in respect for the dead and then returned to her hike. As she was briskly making her way up the hill a figure came into view, this caused her to pause for a moment. From where she was she could barley make out the shape of a person. She thought that she would be the only one here for sure, but it would seem that, that wasn’t the case. As she came closer , she thought she would be able to tell whether it was a man or a women, but she could not. It wasn’t before that she was close enough where she could call out to the person that she realized that this was indeed a man. ”I didn’t expect to find anyone using this route.” She said as a greeting, but mainly to make herself known. A smile was across her face and she was actually happy to have found someone else there. Occ; Hope you don't mind me joining. ;3[/blockquote]

((I don’t mind at all, Prism. I assume she’s heading towards Ba Sing Se, if not, I can just fix my post))
Eisada wasn’t sure how long he’d been walking up and down the uneven paths. It was making him a bit dizzy to tell the truth. Continuously his eyes glanced at the waters bellow, as if to make sure it would not rise or something. He wasn’t sure what he expected really. Everything had been silent so far, and very much peaceful. His eyes trailed over the blue sky, as he repeatedly told himself in his head that there was nothing to be afraid of. Eisada was trying his best to look to the lighter side of this.
He brushed a few strands of white hair from his face, pushing them back behind his ear and retied his hair with the white band. He never really got the hang of tying his hair with those things, he usually used ribbons. But he found that those could easily get lost- and on a journey like this, he wasn’t going to let that happen. So, he did the best he could, slightly twirling the loose band and tying it, trying to keep it together.
Which ended up in a rather messy attempt. His hair was twisted and bound awkwardly at the band, and he had missed a lot of pieces that flowed freely on the opposite side. Eisada played with it for a bit before giving up and leaving it as is. Through all his attempts to ignore the water bellow, he hadn’t realized someone else was venturing the path with him. Having been coming his way for a while now perhaps. And he only found she was there when she called out to him.
He stopped in his tracks, his deep sky blue eyes looking up to meet with her figure a little ways away. Eisada was silent, gazing at her. He wasn’t really one to shout, and he didn’t think she’d hear him if he said hello from here. He glanced around to make sure she was speaking to him- but that much was obvious since they were the only two people here. Eisada gripped his bag, deciding it’d be rude not to at least say something. So he walked a little ways closer, coming up towards her close enough to be heard.
“H…hi.” he said in a rather quiet voice. “I didn’t think anyone else would be here either…” Eisada said shyly. His eyes gazed at her. She seemed rather young, though not really a teenager. Had jet black hair that seemed like it could fall through your fingers like water if you touched it. Her eyes were a pretty shade of purple and she was rather slender. He couldn’t tell what nation she was from, but at least she seemed nice.

Once Fei had come into close contact with the stranger she got a better look of him and was awestruck. He looked very different than most of the people she has encountered so far in the earth kingdom. His hair was long, very long and white, his eyes were a deep sky blue. Was he from one of the water tribes or maybe the swamp tribe, even though the latter was highly unlikely.
He didn’t give off the aura of anyone dangerous and judging from the manner of which he spoke, he seemed like a introverted person. The type who didn’t cause trouble, but mostly kept to themselves. This was a good thing. That would mean that he would be an easily person get along with, but not necessarily to have very deep conversions with.
He also was carrying a backpack and as it looked to her, he seemed like a traveler, as he wasn’t carrying much so he couldn’t be trying to relocate for a very long period of time. This however was just a quick observation and could be dismissed easily. He also looked young, clearly old enough to be considered an adult, but he still gave off a type of innocence that was not to common.
”Hello.” She spoke again with the same smile on her face as before. Fei wasn’t trying to come off as a suspicious person. Even though there was nothing for her to be suspicious about. ”Well, I wouldn’t be if the bay wasn’t so crowded.” She said with a small chuckle. The truth was she was actually chuckling at herself, she didn’t even check the bay. Still she didn’t want to come off as someone who just walks into danger. Fei didn’t really come out and just start conversations with people she didn’t know that often, so this was something that felt strange to her. She didn’t want to say to much, but at the same time she wanted to have some company. Occ; No, you are right, she going to ba sing se. I should have specified that she was. [/blockquote]

“Crowded?” He repeated in question. Eisada didn’t know if it was crowded or not… But if she said so, then maybe it was a good idea he didn’t take the ferry. Lord only knew the mental scenery he was receiving at the thought of a crowded boat. So many things could go wrong with something like that. “I didn’t know it was that crowded…” he hadn’t even checked himself. His fear of drowning had insisted him to take this path instead of walking along the side of the lake in search of a ferry. He liked to stick to land, and he was going to do just that.
Eisada felt his bag move and he looked over his shoulder to see his pet slither out of the old, beaten, worn bag. The black and white snake flickered it’s pink tongue and lingered over Eisada’s shoulder. Buegendy was his name, and he was curious as to who their company was. Eisada smiled, gently running a hand down Buegendy’s back. His tongue flickered frequently, but his large body stayed in the bag, only part of it’s head and neck showing as it lingered on Eisada’s shoulder.
“Oh.. I uhm… forgot to introduce myself. I’m Eisada. This is my friend, Buegendy.” he stated after realizing he had not mentioned his name. As he remembered, it was rude not to say who you were when meeting someone for the first time. Unless that rule had changed or something. He still thought of it as good manners, so he stood by it.

Fei’s facial expression remained in a cheerful state as Eisada repeated her. Even though she didn’t check the bay it was common knowledge that during times of distress, like the one they were in, the bay remained busy with people coming and going, but mostly coming. She guessed that this was why she didn’t go to the bay. The one thing she didn’t like that was for certain is being around so many people in a confined area.
”Well...you know with all of the turmoil going on right now, people are seeking refuge.” She said not only to answer his statement, but to mostly reassure herself. The war between the nations has taken a toll on her as well, she was an ambassador for her nation without her even knowing it. When a snake appeared on the shoulder of Eisada, Fei took a step back quickly. It wasn’t that she was afraid of snakes, it just startled her. Fei breathed in deeply and then giggled softly to herself, ”Was I really startled by a snake?” She thought to herself, maybe it was the fact that they were on the Serpents Pass that made her a little jumpy. ”Nice to meet you both.” She said with a smile and in a soft tone. ”My name is Fei Yen.” It was nice to meet someone that didn’t seem to have an agenda. Still with his looks she wondered where he came from, but she knew it wasn't polite to ask someone a question like that right after you just meet them. So she thought that it would be best to save that question for later. [/blockquote]

Eisada smiled when she introduced herself, not even have noticed her slight startle at Buegendy. He was just glad she wasn’t mean or out to con him out of his stuff. Actually, he hadn’t really encountered anyone like that yet. But he was still happy that she was nice. “Nice to meet you t….” Eisada paused, seeing a shadow linger over the both of them. Did something just block out the sun? He didn’t remember any trees or the sort to have done such a thing.
His eyes slid over to the side of the pass to see a large mass of scales erupt from the water. Torrents of water fell from the large blue mass and it’s head uncurled from it’s neck. It’s large silvery blue scales were lined by purple creases, large green fins protruded from it’s back and the sides of it’s long face. Eisada gulped, taking a step back, but was met with the edge of the path. He felt his foot almost slip off the rocky edge and looked back behind him.
His scared eyes looked back up to meet with the Serpent’s and it let out a shrill screech. “I think we should run.” He said quickly. Eisada hiked the bag over his shoulder and passed Fei. The Serpent snapped at him, jaws barely missing him and tearing his blue robe. He tripped and rolled down the slight hill, kicking up dust behind him- thankfully Buegendy was safe in the bag. When he finally stopped, he hit the crook at the bottom and sat there, dizzy. That went a little more fast then he would have liked.
Eisada looked up to see the pissed off Serpent lunging at him. Eisada moved his hands elegantly, but instead of one might have assumed, a few pieces of rock the size of tennis balls came up from the pass and launched themselves at the serpent, hitting it in the nose. It screeched and shook its head. The water becoming violent waves from it’s thrashing.

Fei didn't notice that something was wrong until Eisada paused. Looking up Fei quickly noticed what was the cause of his dismay, the serpent. It was quite larger than Fei had previously imagined, of course she didn’t think it was small, but the size of the beast came as a surprise to her.
When the Serpent let out a rather loud and shrill screech, she knew that this thing was upset and wasn’t going to let them go so easily. When Eisada spoke it was so quickly she didn’t have time to respond before he was already gone. She quickly turned her head in the direction that he was running, it might have been better to stay still for a moment before bolting off.
Fei saw as the Serpent snapped at the young boy, she would have reacted, but it happened so fast she couldn’t do anything about it. She then watched as he rolled down a light rise. Then the boy did something that surprised the young bender. He was an earth bender, this came as a total shock to Fei, but it was a good thing.
She couldn’t just stand there watching for any longer. Eisada had the Serpents full attention so she could take this time to get a powerful blow in before it would turn its attention to her. Moving somewhat closer to the edge of pass, Fei worked her hands and arms in an elegant and smooth motion, with that a large mass of water arose from the lake below and then quickly Fei sent the water very forcefully toward the Serpent. She preformed a simple move, a water bullet, but it was rather large and the force was fierce.
The forceful blow landed toward the midsection of the beast making it thrash back wards. ” We should continue running.” She said in a surprisingly calm tone, still if they didn’t want to fight the beast it would be best to continue to move on.[/blockquote]
