The canvas may vary, but no matter what Zeran tries his best to express his emotions. ❚ Creative-The world isn't two dimensional. It isn't just black and white, it's so many other things. Zeran can see those things and interpret them in ways that many wouldn't expect. ❚ Loyal-Loyalty isn't to his nation, not to his family. His loyalty is to his friends and those who can't protect themselves. He has no interest in politics only serving the greater good. Those he is loyal to he will never betray and will do all he can to protect them. NEGATIVE TRAITS ❚ Anger Zeran doesn't have the most control over his anger. Once it creeps in it typically takes over, pushing all other thoughts aside. When he gets angry he isn't well known for his self control. ❚ Afraid-Afraid of his own bending and what it might do thanks to his lack of control. It's become a borderline crippling phobia. He's afraid of what his father might think of him and afraid to play any role other than the prince. ❚ Complacent-He prefers complacency. Easy to go unnoticed if you never cause ripples. ❚ Confused-He is torn between his father, his brother, and so many other things. Unsure of what to do he does nothing, but dwell on what's going on. ❚ Sad-Like a caged bird he feels the bars around him and they bruise more than just his body. He feels a prisoner in his own home and it shows. When he is able to sneak out he ventures to the entertainment districts of the city. He doesn't do it for money, just the thrill and the calm it gives him. Zeran's been trained by several different performers. As a result his style is both unique and distinct because it is a blend of so many different styles. ❚ Zeran tries hard to remain unnoticed by his father and hide his personal life. His father is unaware of his son's sexuality as well as his dislike of war and firebending. His best kept secret is his fear. To his family he is practically unknown only telling them enough to keep them from demanding information. ❚ He is am asthmatic, but it isn't a crippling disease. It is bad enough to make firebending a challenge for him and it causes him occasional coughing fits which cause further interference with bending. However this coughing isn't the only reason he tries to avoid bending. He is so afraid of losing control that he won't firebend except for the moment it is required of him. The fear is more crippling then the disease. The fear manifest itself in the cough. ❚ To make up for his lack in firebending he has taken up weaponry. Being a prince he's been trained by only the best and gained rather deadly proficiency with them, however he has yet to use them. Special Abilities (Benders) BENDING ELEMENT : Fire SCOPE OF BENDING : Zeran's firebending isn't weak, but it can be very uncontrolled. Since birth he was afflicted with asthma which has given him a disadvantage in firebending. He has through the years learned to improve his breathing, but he still has coughing fits from time to time during practice which lead to uncontrolled burst of fire. As his breathing improves and asthma becomes less of a problem his bending talents will improve. However just because he has difficult maintaining control doesn't mean he can't bend. He rarely uses it in an actual fight simply because he is afraid of what he might destroy in the process. The question has become how much of the problem is the actual coughing and how much is his fear of hurting someone? Blocking Fire: Because he can't control his own fire at all times due to the occasional coughing fits he has learned how to block the firebending of others. This is easier to him than it is too others because of the way he fights. He uses speed and an opponents strength against them. Heat Control: Zeran has chosen to learn something that can serve a purpose without having such a high chance of accidents. He can control the heat of objects. It is easier with contact, but he is capable of doing this without actual physical contact. This is usually used in conjunction with swords. Heating the metal blade increasing it's damaging potential. This is also used with thrown weapons. Fire Augmentation: Firebending when not used in combat is typically easy for him to do. It's when he is moving and trying to focus the coughing fits usually happen. That's why he learned fire augmentation. It's a great opener for combat and a way to practice improving his breath control. It's also helped in his attempts to lessen his coughing fits. Zeran's firebending focuses on short burst of fire that don't require much control to sustain. This way if a coughing fit happens the damage that might occur is minimal. The control is there and it's obvious. The way he does fire bending is advanced, but it isn't something he can sustain because of his fear of the destruction he might cause. That fear manifest its self in coughing. WEAPONS : Throwing knives: These are always on his person. He is skilled in throwing them, his aim exceptional, as well as mixing them with firebending. Daggers: Small weapons that are easily concealed and easy to get to. Disturbing proficiency and speed. These aren't meant for taking someone on headfirst, but instead countering. He typically uses heat control to superheat the metal for a slash and burn type of effect. Katana: This is rarely used mainly because it requires more strength than agility. He is capable of using them, just not with the proficiency of daggers and smaller swords. It's also more demanding on him. That means he has a small window of opportunity for using them effectively.
